Of Love Lost?

Memories of that first birthday we were together occupied my sleep.

The excitation of that evening.

You opening your gifts.

Trying on one in particular.

The night of passion that would be equaled and eclipsed only as our bodies and souls, with one another, became even more familiar, even more in sync and even more in rhythm.

When I hear your voice, I am transported in time, to the birth and culmination of a great love. Ours was a not merely a once in a lifetime love, but a once in a generation love. Our story was one for the ages. One for which I thought the last chapter was written.

You are the great love of my life. It may be fantasy, a simple dream – however, I do hope we make our way back to one another, to continue a story that was, and perhaps still is, one which spurs the creation of great works of art.

When we speak, I feel from you, that which I thought was lost.

When we speak, my heart lifts.

When we speak, my mood brightens.

For you are what you have always been, from the first moment I was in your

presence –

–          My muse

–          My inspiration

–          My desire

–          My soulmate.

When my time is up I want –

–          Your body to be the last I touch

–          Your love to be the last I know

–          Your beauty to be the last I see

–          Your kiss to be the last I taste

–          Your breath to be the last I breathe

Maybe, just maybe, if all aligns —  I will again come to you. I will come no longer broken. I will come complete and whole. Not as someone begging for your love, but, if we agree on a path, someone deserving and ready to give himself to you.
