I was recently interviewed by Jim Riley of Bold Gold Media. He asked me what I hoped to accomplish by writing about the creation of a school shooter.
It all boils down to 4 points:
- encourage people to think
- encourage people to discuss
- encourage people to understand
- encourage people to take action
We can’t escape the headlines of mass murders occurring in our schools. The very place where children are sent to be educated. The very place where they should be safe and free from danger.
Sadly, school shootings have become the new normal. These horrific crimes and events lead us to ask –
Is a mass murderer born or created?
What makes a school shooter?
Is it availability of guns?
Is it mental illness?
Could it be something else?
Shouldn’t we look for a cause?
This novelette explores these questions.
“Who am I?”
I am an independent, self-published teller of tales. I am an author of scarcely any renown. However, as a storyteller, I know who I am, and with that persona, I am both confident and comfortable.

you are right. i live in Canada but there seems to be a shooting in the media almost every day in North America – whether its in a home, a neighborhood or a public place… quite depressing.

It is tragic. It is one of the reasons I wrote the novelette. Trying to explore the psyche of someone who crosses that line.
Thank you for taking the time to read and comment.

It is an important thing to look at and talk about, that’s for sure. People seem to think by talking about it, it is being glorified, but that’s not the case.
13 Reasons Why has tackled suicide, and its previous season seemed to explore school shootings, too. All forms of art have a duty in certain instances to talk about the more tragic aspects of existence.
Thank you, once again, for being brave enough to do so. 🙂

Thank you. I just hope people actually read the book and then talk about it. Getting the word out is an obstacle.
Trying to get a rational point out is specially difficult over the clamor of political screaming.

You’re welcome.
I hope people do read it as well. That’s the biggest part of talking about it, right?
And too true on that front. Lots of things get lost under politics.
